Axie Infinity Triangle Explained: What Are Classes and How Do They Work?

There is a Web3-based game called Axe Infinity where you are able to breed, grow, and fight little creatures known as Axies.
It is important to understand the Class system and its triangle as one of the core mechanics of the game.
The purpose of this guide is to explain how the class system works.
This Web3-based game lets players breed and grow little creatures called Axies, then field them in battles. With its rapid rise to popularity, the game soon became the headliner of Web3 gaming. In Axie Infinity, you will find new features, updates, and mechanics that make the game more interesting and innovative.
It is important to understand the Class triangle and the Class system in order to play this game effectively. This guide will explain the class system, how it affects your playstyle, and how it can help you succeed in the Arena.

Classes in Axie Infinity

There are currently nine classes to choose from and three of them are special secret classes. The nine classes are:

  • Aquatic
  • Beast
  • Bird
  • Bug
  • Dawn
  • Dusk
  • Mech
  • Plant
  • Reptile

Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, and these dictate the base statistics (stats) and affinities of your Axie.

Secret Class System

As we know, Axie Infinity has nine Axie Classes and six of them are regular classes. The regular ones are Aquatic, Beast, Bird, Bug, Plant, and Reptile. The three secret classes can be obtained through cross-breeding of different classes. These are:

· Dusk: You can obtain this through breeding a Reptile Axie and a purebred Aquatic Axie

· Mech: You can obtain this through breeding a purebred Beast Axie with a purebred Bug Axie

· Dawn: You can obtain this through breeding a purebred Plant Axie and a purebred Bird Axie

These secret classes have various advantages and disadvantages against other classes, but they lack Body parts/Cards. They also have a disadvantage when it comes to certain mechanics. For example, if an Axie plays a card from its class, it can earn a 15% shield/Attack bonus but as secret classes don’t have any class cards they can lose out on this bonus.

Stats and Attributes

The game has four core stats which are: Health, Morale, Skill, and Speed and each class has a different priority in stats. This attribute affects your playstyle and lets you choose how you want to play the game.

For each class, you get certain stats added to each card’s base stats. These depend on the type of card:

  • Aquatic: +3 Speed, +1 HP
  • Bird: +3 Speed, +1 Morale
  • Beast: +3 Morale, +1 Speed
  • Bug: +3 Morale, +1 HP
  • Plant: +3 HP, +1 Morale
  • Reptile, +3 HP, +1 Speed
The Class triangle is a popular diagram used by Axie Infinity players to determine advantages and disadvantages of each class

Class triangles are a popular way for Axie Infinity players to compare their advantages and disadvantages.

There are advantages and disadvantages associated with certain classes, as shown by the triangle. Axies with the class advantage will deal 15% more damage, while Axies with the class disadvantage will deal 15% less damage. The following is a breakdown of all the classes:

Additionally, axies deal 10% damage if they are using moves related to their class, and certain moves increase their shield by 10%. It is through the body parts that abilities are determined. The body of an axie consists of six parts:

  1. Eye
  2. Ear
  3. Horns
  4. Mouth
  5. Back
  6. Tail

All of the Axie body parts give stat points or “attributes” to an Axie. However, only the horn, back, tail, and mouth contain Axie cards used to execute abilities in battle.

How to determine the best Class for you in Axie Infinity?

With so many classes and stats to keep track of, it can get confusing when it comes to choosing a Class that also mirrors your playstyle. Some classes have specific abilities that might focus on aiding teammates and some classes may have specific abilities that are focused on defense. The best way to choose a Class is to try multiple decks and see which suits your playstyle the best. Future changes and updates may also have an adverse effect on the stats which can change things up.
